National Parks of the United States

Grand Teton National Park The National Park System of the United States is a vast collection of unique properties that are owned or administered by the National Park Service. This includes areas designated as National Parks, most National Monuments, and other protected areas of the United States managed by federal, state, tribal and local authorities. Most National Parks share the dual role of providing a refuge for wildlife, while serving as popular tourist areas. People from all around the world visit the National Parks to experience America's story, to marvel at the many natural wonders, and to have fun. Lodging options within the National Parks can include historic lodges and inns, hotels and cabin rentals. Additional lodging can usually be found outside the parks including hotels and motels, cabin and cottage rentals, bed and breakfasts and even some luxury resorts. Some of the more popular National Parks include Grand Canyon, Yosemite, Yellowstone, Rocky Mountain, Redwood, Denali, Shenandoah, Great Smoky Mountains, Arches, Bryce Canyon, Glacier, and Everglades. For more information access the National Park Service Find-A-Park search tool and then search by name, location, activity or topic.

Unfortunately our National Park System the first and finest in the world is in dire straits right now. Our National Parks are threatened as never before by air and water pollution, commercial development, motorized misuse, and other dangerous threats. Without quick action, our National Parks will be so damaged that the next generation may not recognize them. If you would like to join a network of grassroots National Park supporters you can do so by visiting the Take Action Center on the National Parks Conservation Association website.
