Hines is a small town in eastern Oregon’s wide open range lands. Hines is located about 135 miles east of Bend and 2 miles south of Burns. Nearby is the 185,000 acre Malheur National Wildlife Refuge, a nationally respected bird watcher's mecca that provides a key habitat for thousands of nesting and migrating birds. Also nearby is Diamond Craters, with diverse volcanic features this area has been called the "Geologic Gem of Oregon". Be sure to take the 55-mile Steens Mountain loop, open mid-July through October, which is one of the most scenic areas of Oregon. Outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy the breathtaking scenery, hiking, fishing, wildlife viewing, boating and backpacking in the backcountry areas.
